Combat is so varied in RS3 that the skillcap for end game content is pretty bananas.

Regarding your comment about ascensions: yeah you need the gear, although now it’s the fractured staff of Armadyl and an Armadyl battle staff in an essence of finality, but you still will be a detriment to yourself or your team if you don’t really understand the mechanics of how to use them. It’s nice having the flexibility to do so in my opinion, but it’s VERY different than OSRS and may not be everyone’s cup of tea I bought 120 dg w/ bonds -> spins that I bough with gold from bossing opposed to training the skill. If you play the game to skill, then yeah you’re entirely right. Power really comes from your ability rotations and knowledge of game mechanics, but again this is the endgame PVM perspective. There’s a common sentiment that you don’t really start the game until you’re maxed, because you’re at a severe deficit without having perks from maxing elite skills like Arch and Invention. I guess I’m biased, but I’ve been maxed for a bit over a decade in RS3.
